Umbra offers sophisticated corporate finance advisory services to UK-based SMEs. We are event-driven and our team has completed hundreds of transactions across different jurisdictions, industries and company sizes in both an advisory and investing capacity.

Each transaction is different and we offer unbiased, quality advice. We approach each opportunity with an open mind, and align ourselves with our clients to achieve exceptional results. We are selective in taking on engagements and our success-based model, and willingness to roll a portion of our fees into every deal, ensures true alignment.

Our access to capital gives us a significant edge and a head-start over traditional advisers. It enables us to be opportunistic and move quickly when the situation requires. We can also underwrite transactions and provide short-term funding to provide execution certainty.

Umbra invests private capital in a wide array of opportunities. We invest in situations where we can add value; we are sector and instrument agnostic and can invest across the capital structure.

We focus on established companies in growing markets, with good revenue visibility, strong profit margins and ambitious management teams with a clear vision. We can take direct majority or minority positions; we are typically the lead investor but often co-invest alongside funds or other investors, we can also invest in funds. We have a direct origination strategy, but also source opportunities from intermediaries via a large network of regional corporate finance advisors, accountants and funds.

Our management investment vehicle and segregated managed account structure allow us to structure bespoke solutions, be opportunistic and have a long-term investment horizon without the constraints of a fund mandate and consequences of the fundraising cycle.

Our capital comes from ourselves, other families and like-minded investors. Additionally, we have access to a global network of institutions and limited partners that want long-term exposure to our direct private capital opportunities.

Our unique proposition is designed to create a club that allows members of the Umbra “family” to co-invest alongside us in our proprietary transactions.

Members include our family offices, institutional investors, select friends and family and critically, qualifying entrepreneurs, owners and founders with whom we have worked closely on deals.

There is significant value in our network, not just capital. We encourage active members’ involvement where helpful, which often include board seats, acting as senior advisers or facilitating value-add introductions.

Our proprietary deal flow allows members to diversify their investment portfolio and gain direct exposure to an asset class previously inaccessible to them.
